JumpStory’s smart AI-generator is named EVERYDAY. In this article we will explain a bit more about how we have built EVERYDAY and the vision behind it.
EVERYDAY, like everything else we create, has been built based on our core values of authenticity; relatability and limitless possibilities.
We’ve never been fans of filters or superficiality. We have always had a bit of a hard time with the stock photo industry, which we are often put in. You probably know the big players – Shutterstock, iStock, Deposit Photos etc.
We feel like we don’t really belong there, because all our technology and products are being developed to contribute to a future with more authenticity; more of real life and less staging and perfection. We refuse to be ‘stock in the past’ (sorry about that corny wordplay).
How we are different from Midjourney, DALLE etc.
JumpStory users from more than 150 countries have been using this platform for years to find authentic visuals of real people and real emotions. We’ve always been a company for our users. Not for photographers or technology, but for you guys!
Recently our thousands of happy users have asked for even more photos, illustrations, icons, etc., and they would also love us to include other creative options. And of course, we listen to them very carefully.
We’re in the process of transforming from only being a visual platform of authentic images to becoming the ultimate platform for everyone who works with content marketing and/or content creation.
So unlike AI-companies such as OpenAI, Midjourney etc., we’re not in it to build AI-generators. Our vision is much bigger. This is about visuals and content without limits – everywhere and for everyone. Also, we will continue to focus on relatable and down-to-earth images – even when they’re created by AI.
Within content marketing and content creation, which is ‘our space’, authenticity is key for the content to have a true impact. Authenticity may at first seem difficult to combine with AI, but this is actually not the case if you dig a little deeper.
Here at JumpStory, it has never been about whether a given photo was taken by a professional photographer or created by artificial intelligence. In fact, most of the images on our existing platform are created by happy amateurs, and for them, the essence is the same as the model, we’re creating for our AI EVERYDAY:
To show a natural and relatable everyday life and reality.
Technology and EVERYDAY life
We recently came across this great quote by Microsoft founder and legend Bill Gates:
“The advance of technology is based on making it fit in so that you don’t really even notice it, so it’s part of everyday life.”
EVERYDAY was created in exactly this spirit, and we will continue to develop it in the future focusing on simplicity; diversity; relatable role models and empathy in any context.
EVERYDAY, like JumpStory, will strive to be:
- simple to use for everyone
- positive for our common narrative
- financially accessible to as many people as possible.
The technology used to build EVERYDAY AI
With our generative AI-features, users will not only be able to search for and generate unlimited visuals, but also to ask our AI to personalize the results:
a) Aesthetically relatable
Because the AI is trained using our unique image library, the style of the AI-visuals created will remain authentic.
b) Brand personalization
Users will be able to insert brand info (color, style etc.) + demographics and get their creations aligned with this.
If you’re curious about the more technical aspects of EVERYDAY AI, we’ve created a small illustration of the architecture that we use, when we build it:
As we’ve shown in the illustration above, JumpStory is using a number of different foundation models depending on the specific need of the user. We’re always striving to use open source for everything, and we’re part of both the Content Authencity Initiative and CEPIC showing our support to an ethical future within images and generative AI.
We originally started with Open AI’s GPT-model, but have since included a number of other and more open alternatives to our tech-stack.
In addition to this our own library of images is a vital part of our technological development moving forward. All of these images are either CC0 or Public Domain, which is a key part of both training our AI in an ethical way as well as using visuals of ordinary people in real-life situations – trying to avoid stereotypes; get away of the Instagram fake-filter-culture and contribute to a world, where we can look like ourselves instead of perfected supermodels in staged lives.
Of course, there will always be details that we can’t reveal in this public blog post due to confidentiality reasons, but this should hopefully give you an idea of how EVERYDAY AI works.
If you have any questions, you’re always more than welcome to reach out to our support team.
We will end with another great quote:
“EVERY DAY is a learning day.”
– Winston Marshall
